The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Cahora Bassa Hydro-Electric Power Station (HCB), Paulo Muxanga, says that the long-rumoured North Station project will be one of the objects of potential partnerships in the “land of Camões” (Portugal). Close to 800 million dollars are needed in order for HCB to increase its current power production capacity and cement its position as one of the largest hydro plants in the world.
I am making an emotional visit to this historic dam. It is, without doubt, a tribute to all the best in humanity - talent, dedicated work, vision of the future. This is the first time I have come here, to see, with my own eyes, this fantastic understanding, of which I heard so much in my childhood.
A delegation consisting of about 45 Japanese business people from various sectors of the Japanese economy visited the Cahora Bassa hydro-electric dam on 29 January, with the purposes of understanding the current stage of operation of the company and possible business opportunities. The delegation was accompanied by the Mozambican Ambassador to Japan, Belmiro Malate, and his counterpart in Mozambique, Susuma Segawa, and other members of the Japanese government. This visit to Cahora Bassa was part of a business trip to Mozambique between 28 January and 1 February.
