ETA – Water Treatment Station

Due to the difference in altitude between the level where water is abstracted, from the lake, and the town of Songo, the supply of drinking water to the town is assured by three pump stations, named:

  • Abstraction of gross water;
  • Elevation 400;
  • Elevation 600.

The capacity to supply treated water, in accordance with international quality control norms, is 500 m3 an hour. The water is treated in accordance with the norms in force and distributed to the industrial consumers (HCB), domestic users (company workers and private individuals) and official bodies, from two reservoirs located in each of the areas, the Northern Zone and the Southern Zone.

To increase the reliability of the water network’s operations, work is under way to make the Songo town drinking water treatment and supply system fully automatic.

As for quality control, water samples are collected from the ETAR, the ETA, the reservoirs and pre-defined points n the Distribution Network, and taken to the company laboratory where they are subjected to daily complete physical and chemical analyses.
