Partnership

The Hydroelectric of Cahora Bassa has as its main suppliers ABB, SIEMENS, LNEC, AREVA and ALSTOM. These partnerships result fundamentally from the existence in the chain of production and transportation of a great variety of equipments created or represented by them, with the following in evidence: Turbines, Generator Groups, Transformers, Maneuver Equipment, Protection and Control Systems.

With the aim of strengthening and keeping up with the best methods in the operation and maintenance of the hydroelectric enterprise and the system of high tension in continuous current, HCB is a member of international organizations such as SAPP, CIGRÉ (International Council on Large Electric Systems), EUCG (Electric Utility Cost Group) ICOLD (International Commission of Large Dams) and IHA (International Hydro Power Association).

The membership in these organizations does not only turn possible the benchmarking between HCB and other various companies from the sector of production and transmission of electrical energy associated to them, but also promotes the exchange and technical, technological – on the regional energetic sector - and international development, comprising many areas such as:

· Electrical and electromechanical aspects from the production of electrical energy;

· Researches, projects, building and maintaining transmission lines, substations and equipments or associated systems;

· Electro-energetic system planning, either isolated or interconnected systems and its operation, and energy rationalization or preservation of;

· Telecommunications, control and protection in electrical systems;

· Establishment and application of material, equipment and electro-energetic systems;

· Establishment and application of methods and techniques that are destined for the analysis and establishment of the electrical power systems;

· Aspects of regulation and energy market, distributed generation, environment and information technology;

· Structural safety;

· Hydric resources management.
