Foram lançadas recentemente as roupas corporativas e fatos de trabalho da HCB, num evento que decorreu na tenda da instituição que contou com a presença de cerca de 400 colaboradores da instituição, incluindo membros do Conselho de Administração. Nessa sessão em que foi apresentado o regulamento aplicável e as respectivas roupas corporativas, informou-se aos trabalhadores que para o almoço do dia 27 de Novembro “é obrigatório o uso das camisas”.
Decorre na Vila de Songo a semana comemorativa do quarto aniversário da reversão da Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa para o Estado moçambicano. As festividades iniciaram com a Cerimónia de entrega do Prémio José Craveirinha de Literatura 2010, ocorrido no dia 21 de Novembro. Durante a semana, para além da cerimónia referida, irão decorrer várias actividades desportivas, culturais e recreativas, que culminam com a festa de comemoração do quarto aniversário da reversão da gestão da HCB no dia 27 de Novembro.
About 100 students of general secondary education from the District of Cuamba, province of Niassa, visited in the first week of August the Cahora Bassa enterprise within the scheduled school holidays by the local education authority of that district. The completion of this tour had the support of the HCB concerning the feeding of students and teachers. During the tour, students expressed their satisfaction of being able to see up close this enterprise seen only through television, books and magazines.
In an initiative organised by HCB, on the occasion of opening another floodgate 100%, about 250 people, including workers, their relatives, and members of the local community visited the Cahora Bassa Dam.
The visit, considered as opportune by many, coincided with the opening of three floodgates 100% something that has not happened in recent years. The workers took the opportunity to inform their spouses and children about how the mechanisms of the dam work.
The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB), Dr. Paulo Muxanga, accompanied by members of the Board, Managers, Heads of Department and technical staff, at the invitation of the management of Vale Moçambique, on 21 January visited the Moatize Coal Project, located in the district of the same name. The high point of this visit was the meeting at which the coal exploitation project and the project for a coal-fired power station were presented.
On October 1 and 2 of this year, within the context of strengthening of the relations of friendship and co-operation between the peoples of Mozambique and Malawi, a Malawian delegation stopped off in Songo Town, where they had occasion to make a detailed visit to the Cahora Bassa Hydro-electric operation. The delegation was headed by leaders of the central structures and included amongst its members, Administrators of the Districts of the Southern region of Malawi, namely of the Districts of Ntchau (bordering on the Districts of Angónia and Tsangano), Muanza and Neno (bordering Moatize) and Chikwana (which borders on Moatize and Mutarara).
On the days of September 17 and 18 of this year the HCB was graced by a visit by the ambassadors of the member countries of the SADC, as well as Portugal and Russia, all of them based in Harare.
Last Sunday August 1st, the VI National Festival of Culture came to an end. It included the participation of all provinces of the country. This event constituted a striking occasion for the coming together and exchanging of experiences between the various producers of culture nationwide. The Province of Tete made its presence felt, demonstrating its cultural potentials through dances like nhau, mafue and others.
The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Cahora Bassa Hydro-Electric Power Station (HCB), Paulo Muxanga, says that the long-rumoured North Station project will be one of the objects of potential partnerships in the “land of Camões” (Portugal). Close to 800 million dollars are needed in order for HCB to increase its current power production capacity and cement its position as one of the largest hydro plants in the world.
Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) was elected in a public survey, undertaken by youth of the Pássaro Azul (Bluebird) Club of Beira, as the Best Economic Personality of 2009 and the Chairperson of the HCB Board of Directors, Dr. Paulo Muxanga, was elected figure of the Year for 2009.
