Governor of Tete visits HCB Facilities

This last June 31 the Governor of the Province of Tete, Dr. Alberto Vaquina, stopped in the Town of Songo, in his first visit in his capacity as Governor of this Province, with the purpose of visiting the premises and operation of the Cahora Bassa Hydro-Electric Power Station.

Japanese Business People Visit Cahora Bassa

A delegation consisting of about 45 Japanese business people from various sectors of the Japanese economy visited the Cahora Bassa hydro-electric dam on 29 January, with the purposes of understanding the current stage of operation of the company and possible business opportunities. The delegation was accompanied by the Mozambican Ambassador to Japan, Belmiro Malate, and his counterpart in Mozambique, Susuma Segawa, and other members of the Japanese government. This visit to Cahora Bassa was part of a business trip to Mozambique between 28 January and 1 February.

Due to the Apollo I refurbishment: HCB revenues may go down by as much as 10 percent

The Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Complex (HCB), the largest energy undertaking in Mozambique, foresees a decrease this year of eight to ten percent in its revenues, due to the reduction in power supplied to South Africa. This information was disclosed in Chidenguele in the District of Mandlakazi in the Province of Gaza, by the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of HCB, Paulo Muxanga, on the margins of the V Co-ordinating Council of the Ministry of Energy, which came to an end there yesterday.

Cahora Hydroelectric Complex Visited by the Minister of Women and Social Action

The Minister of Women and Social Action, Virgilia Matabele, accompanied by her advisors, directors and other INAS delegates, visited the HCB Complex on the 22nd of July, as she continues her inspection of developments related to Social Action in Tete Province and respective opportunities for partnerships with the various companies in the area, and in this case, HCB.

HCB’s Reversion accelerated the electrification of mozambican districts

The reversion of the Hydroelectric of Cahora Bassa to Mozambique has created opportunities on the energy sector for a bigger boost on the country’s economy and for the acceleration on the districts’ electrification, resulting on 32 more connections in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Niassa, Nampula, Tete, Manica, Zambézia, Sofala and Inhambane, said the President of the Republic, Armando Guebuza, on the report about the Nation.

HCB runs seminars on Prevention of Accidents in the Workplace

Assuming that the matters of safety and hygiene at work are a priority, the Hydroelectric of Cahora Bassa is conducting capacity building conventions on the matter of preventing accidents at work in all of the company’s organic units, involving about 250 employees.

Selecção nacional de hóquei no mundial do Grupo-A

The national roller hockey team is participating in the A Group World Championship, which will take place on this July, in Vigo – Spain, as a result of the achievements gathered in the B Group World Championship.

The deserved participation of the national roller hockey team is assured, in part, by a sponsor that was granted by the Hydroelectric of Cahora Bassa (HCB), in the amount of around US$ 25 thousand American dollars, handed to the Mozambique Roller Sports Federation.

The President of the Republic visits the temporary facilities of the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Songo

The President of the Republic visited on the past May 26th the facilities where the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Songo (ISPS) will temporarily operate. At 11:30am, the time when the visit started, President Guebuza stopped by the students’ hall and the rooms where classes will take place, and after that he covered Armando Emílio Guebuza Avenue and stopped off to contemplate the reversion of the monument.

New information and communication technologies arrive at ACAMO

The Hydroelectric of Cahora Bassa offered three computers to the Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted of Mozambique, in the scope of their social responsibility and corporate activities.

The computers, delivered on the 20th of May 2009, in the association’s headquarters, on Beira city, will be used to equip the training room for the use of information and communication technologies.
