The Environmental Management System was established in the company in May 2008 and it is today a fundamental document for making operational the various environmental activities within the company between its units and their interaction with the outside world. This document was approved by the Board of Directors, which also adopted the Environmental Management Policy.
The position taken by HCB towards environmental questions flows from the company’s Environmental Policy, which pledges to contribute to the sustainable management of the environment in which all spheres of its activity take place in favour of the country’s development.
In May 2008, a MICOA technical inspection team visited HCB. Its report made clear that the company is undertaking positive work, and that efforts are being made to integrate environmental factors at all levels.
The company is advancing towards the licensing of its environmental activities by MICOA and to receiving the ISO14001 certificate. Achieving these steps are challenges in the short and medium term.
